E-Tshwane confusion on unit number - what do we do?

By Marie Zwemstra on Mon, 26 Nov 2018 at 08:51

Good day,

We own a Duet. Our Neighbour use to own ours as well before we bought it. He still owns the one next to us.

We receive a monthly statement from E-Tshwane to pay our water, taxes and rates and it is up to date. However, we received a letter of demand from the municipality with outstanding rates.

The account number is different and the account holders name. However the unit number and address is the same as ours.

Is this due to it being a Duet? How do we change this and make sure they do not switch of our water and facilities?

Regards

RE: Shared Unit Number

Hi Marie,

Contact/visit the E-Tshwane offices with a copy of these accounts and whatever documentation you have for your scheme, but make sure you have your section/unit number and the scheme's SS number (these are on your title deed and the sectional plan), as it is these details and the street address that the local municipality use to identify your sectional property.

Order your copy of the Sectional Title Survival Manual
