Painting interior

By Jan Reid on Tue, 31 Aug 2010 at 07:34

Hi, I hope I am posting this in the correct thread. I know that there are rules with regard to renovations etc, eg building garages, knocking down internal walls. But I'm not sure about painting inside a unit. I was sent a letter from the new MA stating that I had not informed the 'Body Corporate' that I was renovating my flat. Do I have to inform anyone when I am only painting? I'm not knocking anything down, drilling, lifting carpets, tiling, or anything with excessive noise.
Apparently the next door neighbour complained because my door was left open and 'noise' was heard.

When you are only painting you do not need to inform the Body Corporate, only when renovating.

Some bodies corporate has a rule which requires from an owner to notify the trustees of ANY activity IF and WHEN a contractor will be employed.
If you do the painting yourself, it would not have mattered.
